STORY RESCUE — TERMS & CONDITIONS

These Terms and Conditions apply to Story Rescue consultations provided by A Novel Twist, operated by Beth Prentice.
By purchasing a Story Rescue consultation, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms.
1. THE STORY RESCUE SERVICE
Story Rescue is a private, 60-minute, one-on-one creative consultation designed to help authors identify and work through challenges with their fiction writing.
Sessions may include discussion of plot development, character motivation, story structure, conflict, pacing, creative blocks and potential story directions.
Story Rescue is a collaborative brainstorming and storytelling service.
The consultation does not include manuscript editing, proofreading, ghostwriting, written story development, manuscript assessments or ongoing coaching.
2. BOOKING AND PAYMENT
Full payment is required at the time of booking.
Your booking is confirmed once payment has been successfully processed and your appointment has been scheduled.
Following payment, you will receive a pre-session questionnaire by email.
Please complete and return the questionnaire at least 48 hours before your scheduled consultation, where reasonably possible.
If your questionnaire is not returned, your consultation may proceed using the information you provide during the session.
3. CONSULTATION DURATION
Each Story Rescue consultation runs for 60 minutes.
Sessions are conducted online via Zoom or another agreed video-conferencing platform.
Consultations will begin and finish at the scheduled times.
The purchase price covers one 60-minute consultation only.
Additional consultation time, manuscript reviews, ongoing coaching and follow-up story development are not included.
4. CANCELLATIONS AND RESCHEDULING
We understand that life happens and sometimes plans need to change.
You may reschedule your consultation once, without additional charge, by providing at least 24 hours' notice, subject to availability.
If you need to cancel, please contact A Novel Twist as soon as possible.
For cancellations made at least 48 hours before the scheduled consultation, you may request a refund or reschedule your appointment.
Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the consultation will generally not be eligible for a change-of-mind refund, although rescheduling may be offered at our discretion.
If you do not attend your scheduled consultation without providing notice, your session may be forfeited.
If A Novel Twist needs to cancel or reschedule your consultation, you will be offered an alternative appointment or a full refund.
Nothing in this section limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable consumer protection laws.
5. CONFIDENTIALITY
Your stories, characters and creative ideas are important, and A Novel Twist respects the trust involved in sharing them.
Information shared through your questionnaire or during your consultation will be treated as confidential.
A Novel Twist will not knowingly disclose your unpublished story ideas, characters, plots or manuscript details to third parties without your permission, except where required by law or reasonably necessary to provide the service through trusted service providers.
Your story information will not be used in A Novel Twist's own creative works.
Client information and working notes will be stored securely and retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for providing the service, meeting legal obligations or resolving disputes.
Working notes will then be securely deleted or destroyed when no longer required.
6. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND OWNERSHIP
Your story belongs to you. Always.
You retain ownership of your original manuscripts, characters, plots, story concepts and other creative material.
A Novel Twist does not claim ownership of your existing creative work as a result of providing a consultation.
Suggestions, brainstorming ideas and creative directions developed during your consultation may be used by you in your own writing without additional payment or credit to A Novel Twist.
You are under no obligation to follow any suggestion made during your consultation.
A Novel Twist will not knowingly reproduce or exploit your confidential story material for its own commercial purposes.
General storytelling techniques, genre conventions, common themes and independently developed ideas remain available for use by all writers.
7. SESSION RECORDINGS
Story Rescue consultations will not be recorded without your knowledge and agreement.
If recording is offered and both parties agree, the recording will be provided for your personal reference.
You may not publish, distribute, sell or publicly share recordings of your consultation without prior written consent from A Novel Twist.
Recordings will be stored securely and deleted when no longer required for the agreed purpose, subject to applicable legal obligations.
8. CREATIVE ADVICE AND RESULTS
Story Rescue provides professional creative guidance based on the experience and judgement of Beth Prentice.
Writing is a subjective and individual process, and no particular creative, publishing or commercial outcome can be guaranteed.
A Novel Twist does not guarantee publication, literary representation, manuscript acceptance, book sales or commercial success.
You remain responsible for all creative decisions and the final content of your work.
9. CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES
To make the most of your consultation, please arrive on time and be prepared to discuss your story and the challenges you are experiencing.
You are responsible for ensuring you have a suitable internet connection and access to the agreed video-conferencing platform.
Please ensure that any material you share is yours.
